Wally Sweek passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021. Wally was an outstanding lawyer and an even better person.  During his fifty-six-year legal career, Wally had experience, and success, in virtually every type of tort case. Wally served as president of the Multnomah Bar Association and was later honored with the association’s professionalism award.  He served as president of the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel and was a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. A tireless advocate for jury trials, Wally spent years working to create opportunities for young lawyers to try cases.

A United States Marine Corps veteran, Wally was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed golf, hiking, skiing, and running marathons.

While Wally retired from practicing law in January, 2019, to enjoy more time with his wife, Gloria, he remained an active part of the firm, keeping up with current events, attending firm events, and continuing his mentorship of young lawyers.

Wally was one of a kind.  A truly special man who served as a valued mentor to generations of Cosgrave lawyers.  Wally will be deeply missed.
