Last week, Cosgrave Partner Dan Peterson co-presented at the ALFA International 2026 International Client Seminar in Carlsbad, California.

The program, “Small World, Big Schemes – Navigating the Global Landscape of Payment Fraud Litigation,” examined the growing risks associated with electronic payments and fraud carried out through email and other digital communications.

Panelists discussed common fraud schemes, the challenges of recovering stolen funds when perpetrators operate overseas, and the allocation of liability among payors, payees, and financial institutions.

The session also addressed strategies for managing cross-border legal issues, strengthening collaboration between in-house and outside counsel, and responding to evolving regulatory and compliance demands in an increasingly digital global environment.
